In 2018 The German engineering specialist ZF Friedrichshafen announced €160 million investment in an R&D centre in Pančevo. Focus is on the development and production of electric shafts for OEMs, including emobility electric motors, electronic and mechatronic gearboxes, microswitches and printed circuit boards.
At the Pančevo plant, located 14 kilometers from capital, ZF Tech Center performs complex testing of electric drives including high temperature testing, functional testing and torque, power and efficiancy testing.
"Within Europe, these measures (opening of the plant and R&D center) will turn the Pancevo plant into ZF largest e-mobility location outside of Germany. We have consciously opted in favor of this investment as we see that already today cooperation with e-mobility headquarters in Germany is outstanding. Thanks to our future cooperation with the local universities we will educate the next generation of e-mobility engineers."
