Priboj Hosts Forum on Sustainable Regional Development and Economic Cooperation

May 22, 2026

Although facing economic and demographic challenges, the areas within the Lim River basin have significant development potential.

The goal of the “Lim Business Forum” is to contribute, through the exchange of experience and open dialogue, to the development of concrete and feasible solutions for sustainable economic growth, the strengthening of entrepreneurship, and the improvement of quality of life in the region.

Priboj, May 21, 2026 – The conference “Lim Business Forum Priboj 2026 – A New Opportunity for Sustainable Development: Economy, Entrepreneurship and Ecology” was held at the “Terme 36,6” hotel, organized by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce. The forum brought together representatives of institutions, the business sector, academia, and international organizations with the aim of improving dialogue on economic development, regional cooperation, and sustainability in the Lim River basin.

During the forum, the economic potential of Priboj and the Zlatibor Administrative District was presented, along with opportunities for strengthening institutional and regional cooperation. Special attention was given to sustainable development, business internationalization, and the role of young people in shaping the future economic environment.

The event was opened by Bojan Stanić from the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, followed by presentations on the region’s economic potential by Ana Lapčević from the Regional Chamber of Commerce of the Zlatibor Administrative District (RCCI Užice), Dr. Filip Ž. Bugarčić from the Faculty of Economics Kragujevac, and Dr. Jelena Vasić from the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

Within the panel “Institutional Framework for Regional Development,” participants included Oliver Šarov from the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia, Mirsad Jašarspahić, President of the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Savo Jakovljević from the National Bank of Serbia, and Radoš Gazdić, Director of the Development Agency of Serbia. They emphasized the importance of coordinated institutional action, investment support, and strengthening the competitiveness of the local economy as key prerequisites for balanced regional development.

A special focus was placed on sustainability through regional integration. The importance of connectivity, cross-border cooperation, and the application of sustainable development models was discussed by Bojan Stanić and the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Serbia, Dr. Slobodan Šešum.

In the afternoon session, a panel dedicated to business internationalization was held, where representatives of InMold Group, Poliester Group, the “Terme 36,6” hotel, and “Eko Agrar” from Priboj shared their experiences and examples of good business practices.

The choice of Priboj as the host city was not accidental, as this municipality represents an example of visible economic recovery and industrial transformation. Through the reconstruction of production capacities, the establishment of a free economic zone, and the arrival of domestic and foreign investors, conditions have been created for new employment, economic growth, and improved living standards for the local population.

InMold from Požega began operating in Priboj in 2019 within the free zone, and has grown from around twenty employees to nearly 130 today. According to company owner Goran Janković, favorable business conditions, infrastructure, and access to skilled labor were key factors in the company’s development. The company also successfully implements a dual education model, providing students with practical training, scholarships, and employment opportunities.

A special segment of the forum was dedicated to young people, their prospects, and challenges, through discussions with representatives of the business sector, dual education systems, and organizations focused on career development and entrepreneurship.

The organizers concluded that the “Lim Business Forum” has the potential to become an important regional platform for connecting Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina through joint initiatives and development projects in the Lim River basin.
