The Municipality of Bač

 

                

The Municipality of Bač is situated in the south-west part of the spacious Pannonian plain, in Vojvodina, or more precisely, in the south-west part of Bačka. It encompasses the area of 367 km² and includes six settlements, with around 14,500 inhabitants. It is a border municipality, since its western border is the biggest mid-European river, the Danube, whose waves patter against its 43 km long banks. The area of the municipality is between the municipality of Bačka Palanka and Odzaci, while at the other side of the Danube is the Republic of Croatia. A channel which is in the hydrosystem of Danube-Tisa-Danube runs through Bac. Bač is 62 km away from Novi Sad, 140 km away from Belgrade and 120 km away from Subotica.

The advantage of Bač municipality in relation to other locations is close to the Coridore 7 – Danube river which is an ideal place for establishment of transport and logistic. Bač possess more then 25,000ha of agricultural land (7,500ha is in state property – interesting for leasing and agricultural investments). One of advantages is closeness of the two border crossings with Croatia (Bogojevo and Bačka Palanka).

Economy

Bač has developed and infrastructurally equipped Industrial zone. Investors can buy plots at favorable conditions and investor are free of taxes for building for production facilities. Also,  Bač has available skilled workforce in the field of metal procesing, textile industry and agriculture.

Some of the main industries in municipality of Bač are the following:

  • Agribusiness: primary agricultural production (wheat, corn, sunflower, soybean), production of fruits and vegetable (strawberries, raspberries, paprika etc.). Processing of agricultural products (production of fruit juices, salads and other food, production of animal feed). Honey production.
  • Tourism: excursion and recreational tourism (Provala lake, Danube), fishing and hunting, cultural tourism (medieval fortress, monasteries, archaeological sites). Rural households and traditional restaurants (salaš and čarda), manifestations (European heritage days, Bački kotlić).
  • Metal processing: production of agricultural equipment and machinery, production of components for irrigation systems, production of metal components for construction equipment processing of wire, production wire mesh, fencing systems, metal pallets.
  • Energetics: production of electricity from biomass.

Culture and Tourism

Bač is one of the oldest towns in the region. First mention of Bač dates from 535. year. 

On the teritory of Bač municipality is located very important cultural  monuments and heritage: medieval fortress (14th  century),  Franciscan monastery (12th century), Bodjani monastery (15th  century), Turkish bath (15th century) etc. Tourist attraction are Provala  lake, Danube river, canal Danube-Tisa-Danube (destinations for  recreations, sport, swimming, fishing). Also, Bač is one of the most  populad location for hunting (6 hounting grounds) and for birdwatching.  Also, very popular is cyclo tourisam (Bicycle path Euro velo 6) and  hiking.
