THE ELECTRIC MOTOR MANUFACTURER NIDEC BREAKS GROUND FOR THE FACTORY IN NOVI SAD

Nidec Corporation holds Groundbreaking Ceremony to mark the construction of its new factory in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Japanese Nidec started the construction of an electromotors factory in the Industrial Zone North 4, close to Novi Sad. The project will employ 1.000 workers in the first phase. 

The company announced that under the circumstances in Europe where environmental regulations and major countries’ automobile CO2 emission regulations are becoming stricter, to build an efficient system to supply in Europe, the Company plans to open new factories in Serbia for multiple businesses in the future. This business launch in Serbia matches the Western Balkans Cooperation Initiative that the Japanese government is currently promoting in Serbia and other countries, and is receiving tremendous support from the governments of Japan and Serbia.

The Groundbreaking Ceremony is held at the factory construction site in the city of Novi Sad in Serbia and was attended by the President of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Aleksandar Vučić, the Mayor of Novi Sad Mr. Miloš Vučević, and His Excellency Takahiko Katsumata the Ambassador of Japan to Serbia, among others.

President Vučić said the NIDEC Corporation factory, as well as the tire factory of the Japanese company Toyo Tire in Indjija, will be completed in a year, and that the finalization of these factories coincides with the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Japan. Besides that, President emphasized how the arrival of the NIDEC Corporation is a fantastic success for Serbia, and how difficult it was to bring in such an investor, and that such companies bring the best and most innovative technology.

 "The arrival of NIDEC means that we have progressed and that we have shown responsible behavior towards their investment. This is additional incredible news for Novi Sad and Vojvodina, a great success for our country“, concluded President Vučić. 

The CEO of NIDEC Mr. Jun Seki expressed the intention of a company to expand its activities in the future in Serbia and Europe. 

" We want to contribute to the development of Serbia. We will continue to grow in the future, and that is why we also need a new location. We want to expand in Serbia and the European market, and that is why we are here," said Jun Seki.
