With the opening of a state-of-the-art glass ampoule production facility in Jagodina, global leader SCHOTT Pharma further strengthens Serbia’s position as a key point in the supply chain of the European pharmaceutical industry
JAGODINA, April 10, 2025 – The new SCHOTT Pharma factory in Jagodina will produce pharmaceutical glass ampoules for injectable medications such as analgesics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and anesthetics. The Jagodina facility will become the largest ampoule production site in Europe, providing pharmaceutical companies in the region with secure and reliable supply chain solutions.
The grand opening ceremony was attended by Denis Nikitin, Director of the SCHOTT Pharma factory in Jagodina, Andreas Reisse, CEO of SCHOTT Pharma, Torsten Derr, CEO of the SCHOTT AG, Siniša Mali, First Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Finance of Serbia; Gordana Jovanović, Mayor of Jagodina, and representatives of the Development Agency of Serbia.
Denis Nikitin, Director of the Jagodina facility, stated that the new plant is equipped with modern technology and inspection systems to ensure products are manufactured to the highest quality standards.
“We have an excellent business environment, strong support from the Serbian Government and the Municipality of Jagodina, skilled professionals joining our global production network, and a great location. We will reliably supply our customers with top-quality products,” emphasized Nikitin.

Siniša Mali, First Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Finance of Serbia, emphasized that such investments further boost Serbia’s credibility on the global stage. According to him, a major investment by a German company like this confirms that Serbia is an attractive business destination. The Minister reminded attendees that Serbia attracted a record 5.2 billion euros in foreign direct investment last year, positioning the country as a regional leader.
