Čačak becomes a Strategic Growth Center for PWO Group

Jul 03, 2025

The company announced that it will develop and manufacture sophisticated metal components and systems for vehicle electrification, safety, and comfort in its new plant, with a special focus on climate-friendly lightweight constructions.

A new Shared Services Center has also been established in Čačak, currently employing 25 people and providing support to PWO Group’s production facilities across Europe.

ČAČAK, July 3, 2025 – The German company PWO Group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of automotive components, has officially opened its state-of-the-art production facility in the Preljina industrial zone near Čačak.

This investment, valued at 89 million euros, marks not only the opening of a new factory but also a turning point in the company’s global development — with Čačak as the new technological and logistical hub for the entire region.

Company representatives emphasized that Serbia, thanks to its stable economic climate and an increasing number of highly educated professionals, will play a key role in transforming the automotive industry — especially in the segments of e-mobility, energy efficiency, and advanced manufacturing technology.

“This plant is not just another production site — it is the foundation of our vision for the future. Čačak will become a center for developing innovative solutions for vehicle electrification and safety systems, with a full focus on sustainability and smart manufacturing,” stated Carlo Lazzarini, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of PWO Group.

The new factory covers 17,000 square meters of production space, with potential expansion up to a total of 100,000 m². More than 800 jobs are planned to be created in three phases, supported by strong partnerships with local educational institutions, especially the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Čačak.

The President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, who attended the opening, described the arrival of PWO Group as strong confirmation that Serbia is on the path to becoming a leader in industrial and technological modernization in the region.

“Our joint journey to this day took four years, and the factory itself was built in just 14 months. Despite global challenges and uncertainties, the project was consistently realized with vision and dedication. This investment represents a symbol of trust, partnership, and a shared vision for the future, as well as proof of strong economic ties between Serbia and Germany,” emphasized President Vučić.

The facility was built according to the highest principles of sustainable industry and is part of the company’s broader “local for local” strategy, which aims to bring production closer to European clients while applying the latest technologies and green industrial standards. Serbia is thus positioned as a key player in the new era of the automotive industry — based on innovation, digitalization, and energy sustainability.

PWO Group was founded in 1919 and today is one of the key suppliers to the global automotive industry. The group currently employs over 3,200 workers across three continents, with production locations in Europe — Germany, the Czech Republic, and Serbia — as well as in Canada, Mexico, and China.

In 2024, PWO Group achieved revenues of 555.1 million euros. Some of the company’s most important clients include Bosch, Brose, Daimler, Ford, Nidec, BMW, and Continental.
