Foreign Trade Data

The overall foreign trade of the Republic of Serbia, for the period of January - December 2014, amounted to €26.7 billion, a 0.8% increase, compared to the same period in 2013.

The value of exports amounted to €11.2 billion, a 1.4% increase when compared to the same period in 2013, while the value of imports amounted to €15.5 billion, a 0.4% increase relative to the same period in 2013.

The deficit amounted to €4.3 billion, an decrease of 2.3% relative to the same period in 2013.

The export - import ratio equaled 71.9% and was higher if compared to the same period last year when it was 71.1%.

Exports by countries

Serbia`s major export destinations in the reference period were: Italy (€1.9 billion, 17.3% of total exports), Germany (€1.3 billion, 11.9% of total exports), Bosnia and Herzegovina (€993.3 million, 8.9% of total exports), the Russian Federation (€774.5 million, 6.9% of total exports), Romania (€627.6 million, 5.6% of total exports), Montenegro (€568.0 million, 5.1% of total exports), Macedonia (€453.6 million, 4.1% of total exports), Slovenia (€353.6 million, 3.2% of total exports), Croatia (€344.5 million, 3.1% of total exports), and France (€313.5 million, 2.8% of total exports).

Imports by countries

In 2014, Serbia mainly purchased goods from: Germany (€1.9 billion, 11.9% of total imports), the Russian Federation (€1.8 billion, 11.3% of total imports), Italy (€1.7 billion, 11.1% of total imports), China (€1.2 billion, 7.6% of total imports), Hungary (€765.8 million, 4.9% of total imports), Poland (€737.3 million, 4.7% of total imports), Austria (€483.4 million, 3.1% of total imports), Turkey (€444.9 million, 2.9% of total imports), Romania (€443.2 million, 2.8% of total imports), and France (€431.7 million, 2.8% of total imports).

 

Exports by products

According to the divisions of the Standard International Trade Classification (SITC) the following items had the greatest share of exports: road vehicles (€1.6 billion, 13.8% of total exports), electrical machinery, units and appliances (€873.9 million, 7.8% of total exports), cereals and cereal products (€594.6 million, 5.3% of total exports), fruits and vegetables (€564.0 million, 5.0% of total exports), articles of apparel and clothing accessories (€473.1 million, 4.2% of total exports), manufactures of metals (€466.5 million, 4.2% of total exports), non-ferrous metals (€443.7 million, 4.0% of total exports), miscellaneous manufactured articles (€407.1 million, 3.6% of total exports), iron and steel (€369.6 million, 3.3% of total exports), and rubber products (€359.2 million, 3.2% of total exports).

 

Imports by products

The first ten divisions with the greatest share of import were the following: road vehicles (€1.6 billion, 10.4% of total imports), petroleum and petroleum products (€1.4 billion, 8.8% of total imports), electrical machinery, units and appliances (€611.6 million, 3.9% of total imports), gas, natural and manufactured (€604.5 million, 3.9% of total imports), medicinal and pharmaceutical products (€526.7 million, 3.4% of total imports), general industrial machinery (€519.8 million, 3.3% of total imports), iron and steel (€476.8 million, 3.1% of total imports), paper, paperboard and articles of paper pulp (€474.7 million, 3.0% of total imports), plastics in primary forms (€445.6 million, 2.9% of total imports), and miscellaneous manufactured articles (€442.1 million, 2.8% of total imports).
