SWISS REGENT LIGHTING OPENS FACTORY IN SERBIA

Swiss company Regent Lighting opened a factory in Svilajnac, central Serbia.

The factory has an area of 6,500 square meters in Free Zone Svilajnac and will employ around 120 workers. 

The company will construct another production facility, with an area of 6,000 square meters in the project's second phase. 

Joerg Steimer the COO of Regent Lighting said that Regent plans to invest a total of 4 million euros ($4.7 million) in Svilajnac in the next four years and to reach 250 employees at the end of the second phase of the project. 

Regent Lighting is a family business founded in 1908 with more than 600 employees in plants in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, France, and India and now in Serbia. The company develops high-quality conventional or semiconductor-based, optoelectronic lighting systems, and sells its products internationally through distribution partners in 35 countries. 

The Free Zone Svilajnac has seven foreign investors operating in its regime. This year, Regent is the third factory to be opened there, and the 14th in the city of Svilajnac. 

The grand opening ceremony was held in the presence of the representatives of the company, President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, H.E. Ambassador of Switzerland to Serbia Urs Schmid, and the Major of the municipality of Svilajnac Predrag Milanović.
