SCHOTT Pharmaceutical Systems initiated the construction of a packaging facility, poised to create 350 job opportunities, and anticipates the commencement of production in the second half of 2024

Jagodina, December 20, 2023 – With the placement of a capsule in the foundation stone in the CT Park Industrial Zone in Jagodina, the Minister of Economy Slobodan Cvetković, the Minister of Foreign and Internal Trade Tomislav Momirović, the President of the City Assembly of Jagodina Dragan Marković, the German Ambassador to Serbia Anke Conrad, and the Vice President of SCHOTT Pharma Fabian Stöcker marked the beginning of the construction of a glass pharmaceutical packaging factory in Jagodina. The new factory in Jagodina will specialize in the production of glass ampoules, syringes, and containers for injection solutions, focusing on meeting the needs of the markets in Western and Eastern Europe. This investment represents a significant contribution to the local economy, promising new job opportunities and market improvement.

Fabian Stöcker, Vice President of the Global Strategy Department, addressed the attendees, emphasizing that SCHOTT Pharma supplies 1,800 customers on all continents, with a production level of 25,000 injections per minute, rightfully holding the status of the largest supplier in the global pharmaceutical industry.

"This is a significant day for the pharmaceutical industry in Europe," said the company's vice president, adding that the company will employ 130 workers in the first phase and 350 by the end of the project. The start of production is expected by the end of 2024, with the main product being glass ampoules for storing a wide range of medicines, from antibiotics to analgesics.

The German Ambassador to Serbia, Anke Conrad, stated that with this factory in Jagodina, Serbia becomes the center of the German pharmaceutical industry and emphasized that SCHOTT Pharma is a world leader in the pharmaceutical industry. She also thanked the City of Jagodina for its support.

During his address to the audience, the Minister of Foreign and Internal Trade, Tomislav Momirović, stated that over 1,000 German companies operate in Serbia, employing over 76,000 workers, and highlighted that Germany is in the first place in terms of investment value, with 12.8% of the total value of foreign direct investments in Serbia.

The Minister of Economy of the Republic of Serbia, Slobodan Cvetković, said that Jagodina has made the best use of Corridor 10, creating infrastructure conditions for foreign investors and opening new job positions.
