Dec 01, 2025

Predrag Deretić from the Development Agency of Serbia presented in Shanghai the key advantages of Serbia as a strategic investment destination for Chinese companies

At the investment conference “Shanghai–Serbia: New Opportunities in Europe,” held on November 18 within the “Sailing Overseas” series, the central focus was the presentation of Predrag Deretić, Senior Advisor at the Development Agency of Serbia (RAS) and Head of the Strategic Investment Team for the Asia–China sector.

The event was jointly organized by the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Development Agency of Serbia, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, gathering more than 50 companies from the Yangtze River Delta.

In his presentation “Serbia: A Strategic Investment Destination in Europe,” Deretić provided a comprehensive overview of Serbia’s current business environment, investment support mechanisms, and industrial zone development. He placed special emphasis on the benefits Serbia offers to Chinese companies – from incentives and subsidies to the country’s strategic location at the crossroads of European markets.

Deretić highlighted that the goal of the Development Agency of Serbia is to provide Chinese investors with a complete “one-stop” service, including support from site selection to project implementation. He encouraged participants to use the current momentum in bilateral relations and recognize Serbia as an entry point for expanding business across Europe.

The conference took place during the year marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Serbia and China, and high-ranking representatives from Shanghai and Serbia – including CCPIT Vice President Yang Dongsheng, Serbia’s Consul General in Shanghai Ninoslav Erić, and the head of the CCIS office in China, Jelеna Stefanović – emphasized the continuous strengthening of cooperation between the two countries in trade, investment, green energy, the digital economy, and logistics.

Representatives of Chinese companies Baosteel and VIVIDE Business Consulting shared their practical experiences of doing business in Serbia, further confirming that the country is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for manufacturing, logistics, and technology projects of Chinese investors.

The event demonstrated that interest from Chinese companies in Serbia continues to grow, while the Development Agency of Serbia maintains consistent efforts to turn this investment potential into concrete projects and long-term partnerships.
